What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning "Universal Life Energy". Reiki activates the body's natural ability to heal itself - the energy will go to where the origin of the illness is and works wherever it is most needed, releasing blocked energy, assisting in the cleansing of toxins in the body and helping to create a sense of balance.
It helps the recipient make lifestyle and attitude changes to promote a happier and healthier life. Whilst certainly no substitute for orthodox medicine it can work extremely effectively alongside the treatments provided by your doctor or consultant.
Reiki is a simple, non-intrusive and powerful method of treating others. It is simple because it requires no elaborate or difficult techniques, it is non-intrusive as the recipient does not need to remove any clothing and no pressure is applied to the body, and it is powerful because it goes to the deeper levels of the recipient's being, where many illnesses originate.
Who can benefit from Reiki?
Reiki is suitable for everyone including the very young, the elderly, pregnant women, those recovering from illness and surgery and even pets.
What does Reiki do?
What happens during a Reiki session?
You will be asked to lay down, fully clothed, on a treatment couch or if preferred you can be seated. The Reiki energy will be channelled to your body through the Practitioner laying their hands in various positions on your body, none of which are intrusive to you.
Most people relax very quickly and have a strong sense of well being and calmness. Some people go into a dream like state, whilst others are fully awake throughout. There is no right or wrong way to feel, Reiki will work whatever the emotions you feel during your Reiki treatment.
