What is Hopi Ear Candling?

Hopi Ear Candling otherwise known as Thermo-Auricular Therapy is a relaxing holistic therapy providing a natural and safe alternative to ear syringing.

Holistic Treats only use BIOSUN ear candles which are regularly tested for safety. These candles contain a specially developed safety filter that ensures simple and safe application. The candles used are not conventional candles. They are hollow tubes made from natural materials, only pure beeswax, honey extract and traditional herbs such as Sage, St John's Wort, Camomile and pure essential oils are used.

A light suction action (the chimney effect) and the movement of the flame create a vibration of air in the Ear Candle generating a massage like effect on the eardrum.

What can Hopi Ear Candling help with?

There are many conditions that can be helped by having regular or even one-off treatments. These include:

What happens during a Hopi Ear Candling treatment?

After a brief medical check has been discussed, you will be asked to lie down on your side and your ears will be inspected with an otoscope to check their condition. A lighted candle will then be inserted into the ear which will be held by myself throughout the treatment to ensure your safety and enabling you to fully relax. Each candle takes approximately 12 minutes to burn to the required level. The candle will be removed and the process will be completed on the other ear using a new candle. A relaxing face massage is then provided in order to enhance the effect of the candles and aid the lymphatic drainage of toxins. You will remain fully clothed at all times and each session takes about 45 minutes.

Most people feel a pleasant and warming effect and a soothing pressure and pain relieving sensation in the head and ear area. It can also provide an improved sense of smell and freer nasal breathing.

Can anyone have Hopi Ear Candling treatments?

Those who have the following are not able to have this treatment:

  • Grommets
  • Recent ear surgery
  • Irritation or infection of the ear
  • Cancer of the ear
  • Burst or lack of eardrum
